Uni research student Ārepa, (22)  begins to uncover mysterious clues connecting ancient Māori with alien visitors. 

When she enlists the help of fellow student Rōhana (23) they begin to connect their mysterious finds to reveal a bigger yet very strange possibility.  All clues suggest their Māori ancestors had regular contact with aliens and even more incredible the  communications never stopped.

After receiving a mysterious taonga, Ārepa is plagued by vivid dreams, visions, cryptic messages and an unnerving feeling she’s being watched. Her orderly world starts to unravel. It’s little surprise that her friends and family become worried when her normally measured behaviour becomes erratic and unpredictable.

Becoming more and more obsessed with finding the origins of the hei tiki she is completely floored when her trusted friend Rōhana betrays her. This is followed by the discovery that her mother and step-father are manipulating things behind the scenes to stop her getting to Antarctica. Feeling alone and aggrieved, Ārepa is grateful to have the support of her quirky and unconventional friend, India.

The irony is that Ārepa has always ridiculed India’s crazy ideas.  When it looks like they will eventually make it to Antarctica the pressure is on with forces Ārepa could never have guessed standing in her way.
